When the new-look Chicago Tribune suds down the stairs
CHICAGO — Chicago Tribune The Tribune is reporting the Tribune is buying a minority stake in a digital publication that had been owned by the Chicago Tribune since the 1970s.
The Tribune announced in January that it had purchased a majority stake in Chai.
The paper, which now covers some 80,000 people, said the deal with Chai was expected to close this week.
The deal comes after the Tribune acquired an ownership stake in the digital publication, which was launched in 2017.
It is the latest move by the Tribune to diversify its digital footprint.
The Tribune said in 2018 that it planned to sell a minority interest in its digital business.
